Govt. Intensifies Push for Clean Fuel Ecosystem, Strengthens LPG Access and Consumer Confidence

New Delhi: The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has stepped up efforts to strengthen India’s clean cooking fuel ecosystem, focusing on consumer protection, transparency, and system integrity. The initiative is part of a broader push by the Government of India to ensure reliable and accessible energy solutions for households across the country.

A coordinated nationwide enforcement drive has been launched to curb malpractices such as hoarding and diversion of LPG supplies. At the same time, authorities are working to maintain a steady and uninterrupted supply of LPG, addressing long-standing concerns related to availability. Officials say that stricter monitoring of distribution networks, combined with technology-driven interventions, is significantly improving accountability and service delivery.

In parallel, the government is accelerating the expansion of piped natural gas (PNG) infrastructure as part of its long-term clean energy strategy. This move is aimed at providing households with a more stable and sustainable alternative to conventional cooking fuels.

With improved availability and greater transparency in the system, consumer sentiment is beginning to shift positively. Earlier concerns around access are gradually giving way to increased confidence in supply reliability and service standards. The government maintains that this integrated approach will help build a resilient, consumer-centric, and future-ready clean fuel ecosystem in India.
