According to data released by the Center on Monday, the wholesale inflation rate increased in March compared to January-February 2024. The government's data reveals that the wholesale inflation rate reached 0.53 percent in March. It is noteworthy that the wholesale inflation rate has been increasing month after month. In the previous month, February, the wholesale inflation rate was 0.27 percent. The country witnessed a sharp rise in wholesale inflation in March due to an increase in the prices of key food items such as potatoes and onions.
In March, the country's wholesale inflation rate increased due to a rise in food inflation, as well as an increase in prices of crude oil, petroleum products, natural gas, machinery, and equipment, as reported by the Center. According to government data, wholesale inflation for crude petroleum and natural gas stood at 1.35 percent, and food items at 1 percent. Minerals had a wholesale inflation rate of 0.58 percent, while machinery and equipment had a wholesale inflation rate of 0.13 percent.
