Vande Bharat Express Will Run At A MaximumSspeed of 220 km Per Hour

New Delhi : Since the inception of the Vande Bharat Express, it has garnered widespread attention and acclaim in India. To further enhance the progress of the Vande Bharat initiative, several steps have been taken by the Indian Railways. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the introduction of every Vande Bharat Express in the country. Recently, Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that three additional variants of the Vande Bharat Express are set to be launched.

The current version of the Vande Bharat Express is providing service to cities within a range of 150-600 kilometers. Furthermore, plans are underway to establish a train network, known as the Vande Bharat Metro Service, to connect cities within a range of 100-150 kilometers. Reports suggest that a sleeper variant of the Vande Bharat Express is also being developed, which will cover distances exceeding 600 kilometers, surpassing the maximum range of the existing chair-car version.

Efforts are also being made to improve the speed of the Vande Bharat Express trains with sleeper configurations. The new sleeper variant of the Vande Bharat Express is expected to achieve a maximum speed of 220 kilometers per hour, surpassing the current chair-car version's speed by more than 40 kilometers per hour. It has been revealed that the semi-high-speed trains will be constructed using aluminum instead of stainless steel. Aluminum, being a lighter metal compared to steel, will reduce the weight of the train, thereby increasing its speed.

A senior official of the Indian Railways previously stated that the sleeper variants of the Vande Bharat Express will achieve a maximum speed of 220 kilometers per hour, making them the fastest trains in India. However, the trains will operate on tracks with a maximum speed limit of 200 kilometers per hour. This indicates that these trains will replace the Delhi-Meerut RRTS trains, which are currently considered the fastest trains in India, with a maximum speed of 180 kilometers per hour.

Currently, the existing versions of the Vande Bharat Express operate at a top speed of 180 kilometers per hour. However, due to safety restrictions, the trains provide service at a maximum speed of 160 kilometers per hour in certain sections. The Indian Railways has issued tenders for 400 Vande Bharat trains. Among these trains, some batches may include sleeper variants. Four domestic and international organizations have surpassed others in the production of these trains.

The expansion and development of the Vande Bharat Express highlight the Indian Railways' commitment to providing efficient and high-speed rail services across the country. With the introduction of new variants and advancements in speed, the Vande Bharat Express is poised to revolutionize train travel in India, offering a comfortable and swift mode of transportation for both domestic and international travelers.
