New Delhi : India is relatively in a 'bright position' from the point of view of the overall economy of the whole world. India’s economic growth is significantly above average after recovering from the Covid-19 pandemic. International Monetary Fund (IMF) Deputy Managing Director Antoinette Sayeh claimed on Sunday. She said, “India is a relative bright spot in the world economy today, growing at rates significantly above its peer average.”

Significantly, in November, inflation in India fell to a 11-month low of 5.88%, down from 6.77% the previous month. To control inflation, the monetary policy committee of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has increased the policy repo rate by 225 basis points since May 2022.

Sayeh said that she was hopeful that the Central government would provide a straightforward path to fiscal consolidation in the upcoming budget for the years 2023 and 2024.

Sayeh also said, With fiscal policy measures supporting vulnerable groups and monetary policy addressing persistently high inflation, macroeconomic policies are responding to the significant headwinds.
