BPCL confirms stable LPG supply across India, highlights proactive measures to ensure availability, and advises consumers against panic booking amid global disruptions.
Kolkata: Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), a Fortune Global 500 company and a Maharatna public sector undertaking, has reassured citizens that LPG supply across India remains stable and sufficient despite ongoing global market disruptions and rising concerns in certain regions. The company stated that it is closely monitoring the situation and has implemented proactive measures to ensure uninterrupted availability of LPG for both domestic and commercial consumers.
Since March 1, 2026, BPCL has been delivering an average of over 1.38 million LPG cylinders daily to households nationwide, maintaining supply in line with regular consumption patterns. To further strengthen accessibility, the company organised more than 550 BharatGas 5 kg mini cylinder camps across the country between April 3 and April 7. In addition, during the ten-day period from March 29 to April 7, BPCL reported sales of over 11.8 million domestic cylinders, more than 226,000 commercial cylinders, and around 297,000 mini cylinders across India.
Highlighting its operational readiness, BPCL said that ensuring uninterrupted supply to domestic consumers remains its top priority. The company has activated additional sourcing channels and strengthened logistics arrangements to maintain a steady flow of LPG. Refineries and bottling plants are operating at optimal capacity to meet demand, while strict monitoring mechanisms, including inspections and vigilance drives, are being conducted to curb hoarding, black marketing, and other malpractices. Authorities have carried out thousands of inspections, taking stringent action against errant distributors wherever necessary.
BPCL also underlined its focus on digital enablement, noting that a significant proportion of LPG bookings are now being made through digital platforms, enhancing transparency and convenience for consumers. The implementation of an OTP-based Delivery Authentication Code (DAC) system ensures that cylinders are delivered only to genuine customers, strengthening accountability in the distribution process.
Issuing a consumer advisory, BPCL urged citizens to book LPG cylinders strictly according to their regular consumption needs and avoid panic booking or unnecessary stockpiling. Consumers have been advised not to visit distributorships, as doorstep delivery is being ensured, and to share OTPs only upon receipt of the cylinder. The company also emphasized relying solely on official communication from BPCL and government sources to avoid misinformation.
Reiterating its commitment, BPCL stated that all necessary steps are being taken to ensure seamless LPG availability across the country and called for continued cooperation from consumers to maintain a smooth and efficient supply system.
