New Delhi : The Election Commission has announced the schedule for the 2026 West Bengal Assembly Election. The dates were declared on Sunday during a press conference held at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi. Along with West Bengal, the poll schedules for Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry were also released. In West Bengal, voting will take place in two phases this time. Here is a quick look at when voting will take place in different constituencies across the state.

For the first phase, the last date for filing nominations is April 6, 2026. Scrutiny of nominations will take place on April 7, while the last date for withdrawal of nominations is April 9.

For the second phase, nomination filing will continue till April 9, 2026. The scrutiny of nominations will be conducted on April 10, and the last date for withdrawal of nominations is April 13.

In the first phase, voting will be held across several districts including Cooch Behar, Alipurduar, Jalpaiguri, Darjeeling, Kalimpong, North Dinajpur, South Dinajpur, Malda, Murshidabad, East Midnapore, West Midnapore, Jhargram, Purulia, Bankura, West Bardhaman and Birbhum. Key constituencies in this phase include Mekhliganj, Mathabhanga, Cooch Behar North, Cooch Behar South, Sitalkuchi, Dinhata, Tufanganj, Kumargram, Kalchini, Alipurduar, Falakata, Madarihat, Dhupguri, Maynaguri, Jalpaiguri, Rajganj, Mal, Nagrakata, Kalimpong, Darjeeling, Kurseong, Siliguri, Chopra, Islampur, Raiganj, Balurghat, Gangarampur, Habibpur, Gazole, Malatipur, English Bazar, Farakka, Jangipur, Raghunathganj, Berhampore, Domkal, Jalangi, Tamluk, Haldia, Nandigram, Chandipur, Egra, Dantan, Jhargram, Kharagpur Sadar, Ghatal, Chandrakona, Garbeta, Purulia, Raghunathpur, Bankura, Bishnupur, Kotulpur, Pandaveswar, Durgapur East, Durgapur West, Asansol North, Asansol South, Dubrajpur, Bolpur and Rampurhat among others.

The second phase will cover districts such as Nadia, North 24 Parganas, South 24 Parganas, Kolkata, Howrah, Hooghly and East Bardhaman. Important constituencies in this phase include Karimpur, Tehatta, Krishnanagar North, Krishnanagar South, Ranaghat North West, Chakdaha, Kalyani, Bagda, Bongaon North, Bongaon South, Habra, Ashoknagar, Naihati, Barrackpore, Khardah, Dum Dum, Rajarhat-New Town, Bidhannagar, Barasat, Deganga, Gosaba, Kakdwip, Sagar, Joynagar, Baruipur East, Sonarpur South, Bhangar, Kasba, Jadavpur, Tollygunge, Behala East, Behala West, Maheshtala, Diamond Harbour, Kolkata Port, Bhabanipur, Ballygunge, Chowringhee, Entally, Beliaghata, Jorasanko, Shyampukur, Kashipur-Belgachia, Bali, Howrah North, Howrah South, Domjur, Uluberia North, Uluberia South, Serampore, Singur, Chandannagar, Chinsurah, Tarakeswar, Arambagh, Bardhaman South, Bardhaman North, Kalna, Memari and Katwa.

With the announcement of the election schedule, the Model Code of Conduct has come into immediate effect across the poll-bound states. Political parties are now expected to intensify their campaign activities as the state gears up for the crucial 2026 assembly elections.
