Inflation is the highest in the country at 4.81% in three months
New Delhi: Inflation reached highest level in three months. Retail price inflation hit a three-month high of 4.81 percent in June, according to government data released on Wednesday. The primary reason for this is the rise in food prices. However, the current inflation level is still below the Reserve Bank of India's (RBI) target of 6 percent.
Consumer Price Index (CPI) inflation rose to 4.31 percent from 4.25 percent in May. Whereas it was at 7 percent in June 2022. Earlier, the highest inflation rate was 5.66 percent in March last year.
Meanwhile, India's industrial production rose 5.2 percent in May. Factory output increased by 19.7 percent in May 2022 in terms of Index of Industrial Production (IIP).
Data released by the National Statistics Office (NSO) showed that production in the industrial sector increased by 5.7 percent in May. Production in the mining sector increased by 6.4 percent during that period, and production in the electricity sector increased by 0.9 percent.
