Apple exported iPhones worth ₹10,000 crore from India in May: Report

New Delhi : Tech giant Apple has been continuously expanding its presence and manufacturing capabilities in India. And it looks like the company's Made-in-India iPhones are starting to catch on. Apple has exported iPhones worth ₹10,000 crore from India in May 2023 alone, creating a new history. This was revealed in a report in the Economic Times. In fact, according to the data given by the India Cellular and Electronics Association (ICEA) in the report, smartphones worth more than ₹ 20,000 crore were exported from the country in the months of April and May this year, whereas during the same period last year this figure was around ₹ 9,066 crore only.

The Apple iPhone alone is said to account for up to 80 percent of some phones exported from India. After this in the list, the name of the legendary Korean brand Samsung is included. It can also be understood that out of every 10 phones going from India to other countries, 8 phones are iPhones. Apple iPhone exports from India are set to grow nearly four-fold to cross $5 billion in FY 2022-23, clearly indicating that India is emerging as a new 'export hub' for the company. Interestingly, the trade relations between the US and China have soured in the last few years and all American companies are looking for alternatives to China in terms of manufacturing, so that their extensive dependence on China can be gradually reduced.

On the other hand, the Central Government, which is trying to make India a global manufacturing hub, is providing various incentives and support to companies promoting domestic manufacturing under various schemes like 'Make-in-India' and 'PLI'. Still working. Currently the company is exporting 'MaKe-in-India' iPhones made in India to countries like UK, Italy, France, Middle East, Japan, Russia and Germany. At present, Apple is producing only about 5-7% of its total product manufacturing in India, but analysts estimate that by 2025, the company may be seen making about 25% of the total iPhones in India.
