Air India is looking to increase the number of aircraft after the new ownership, so that it can fly more domestic and international routes. Also emphasis is placed on improving service quality. Air India said in a statement on Tuesday, "With the decision to increase our fleet, Air India will introduce the most modern and fuel-efficient aircraft on our routes within the next five years."
The year 2023 became a milestone in the history of civil aviation in India. Because two Indian airlines have ordered the largest number of commercial aircraft in the history of the world in a span of a few months. Last February, Tata Sons-owned Air India made history by ordering 470 aircraft from Airbus and Boeing in one go. Another Indigo broke that record within four months. Together, the airline ordered 500 Airbus A320 aircraft. This is the single largest order in the world's civil aviation sector. Naturally, the European company Airbus has never received so many aircraft at once.
