India and China will contribute half to financial growth, claim IMF chief

WASHINGTON: The IMF managing director Kristalina Georgieva Thursday said that the world economy is expected to grow at less than 3 per cent this year, with India and China expected to account for half of global growth in 2023. And this contribution is considered to have a negative impact on the growth of the world economy.

According to the media report, Georgieva said that the economy could go down a lot in one blow this year as compared to last year. And for this, the head of the IMF blamed the long-running war in Ukraine and the corona epidemic. He also said that the slow economy will continue for some time. Growth is not expected to exceed three percent over the next five years. Georgieva points out that since 1990, global economic growth has been moderate. The average economic growth in the last 12 decades has been 3.8 percent. After that he said that India and China will be responsible for the growth of the world economy in 2023. In 2021, the economy suffered a setback after the war in Russia and Ukraine. Economic growth dropped from 6.1 to 3.4 percent in a shock.

Georgieva also believes that poverty and food crises will increase in developing economies. According to him, it is feared that the situation may be similar to the Corona situation. An important meeting between the IMF and the World Bank is coming up next week. Significantly, the IMF's analysis came before this meeting. And it is considered very important.
