Congress asked when the nation will have "China pe charcha," claiming that the Chinese buildup in Doklam is threatening the strategic ‘Siliguri Corridor’.
New Delhi : The Congress asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saterday why he was not putting the nation's trust in the situation along the border with China and accused him of preventing a debate about it in Parliament. His attack on the government came just a few days after Indian Army soldiers and Chinese soldiers got into a fight in the Arunachal Pradesh sector of Tawang. The party asked when the nation will have "China pe charcha," claiming that the Chinese buildup in Doklam is threatening the strategic "Siliguri Corridor," which is the gateway to northeastern states.
India's strategic "Siliguri Corridor," which serves as the entry point to Northeastern States, is under threat from Chinese construction in Doklam up to "Jampheri Ridge." For the safety of our nation, this is of the utmost importance! When will the nation have "CHINA PE CHARCHA," @narendramodi ji? Mallikarjun Kharge, president of the Congress, took aim at Prime Minister Modi's campaign slogan "chai pe charcha" in a tweet. Jairam Ramesh, the general secretary of communications for the Congress, stated in a statement that the prime minister has a moral and political obligation to share his "mann ki baat" on the seven questions posed to him by his party.
"The country needs to be aware… for what reason are you demanding that there ought to be no discussion in Parliament on the line circumstance and the difficulties we face from China," he inquired. "You have shaken hands with Xi Jinping in Bali and have met the top Chinese leadership an unprecedented 18 times. Shortly thereafter, China invaded Tawang and continues to unilaterally alter the border situation. Why are you failing to inspire confidence in the nation? The head of the Congress asked. Ramesh inquired as to why the prime minister stated that "there has been no incursion by China into Indian territory in eastern Ladakh" on June 20, 2020. Additionally, he posed the question, "Why have you permitted the Chinese to prevent our troops from entering thousands of square kilometers in eastern Ladakh, where we were regularly patrolling prior to May 2020?"
The leader of the Congress also inquired as to why the prime minister abandoned the plan to establish a Mountain Strike Corps that had been approved by the Cabinet on July 17, 2013. The PM CARES Fund has received contributions from Chinese businesses for what reason? He inquired, "Why have you allowed China imports to soar to record levels in the past two years?" The Congress attack occurred a day after Rahul Gandhi stated that China was preparing for war while the government was asleep. The BJP reacted strongly to Gandhi's remarks, claiming that he was lowering the morale of the armed forces.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said in a statement to Parliament that on December 9, Chinese troops tried to "unilaterally" change the status quo along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the Yangtse area of the Tawang sector in Arunachal Pradesh. However, the Indian Army forced them to retreat with its "firm and resolute" response, he said.
