From now on, January 17 will be celebrated as 'National Start-up Day' in the country. The announcement was made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a conversation with more than 150 startups via video conference as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav on Saturday. Startups from various fields including agriculture, health, enterprise systems, space, industry 4.0, security, fintech and environment took part in the talks with the Prime Minister. In that conversation, Prime Minister Modi called on startups to innovate for India and from India. He said that the country is facing challenges through this. Describes the steps taken by the government to free entrepreneurs from bureaucratic problems and to innovate. The Innovation Ecosystem is being celebrated through a week-long program on the occasion of the Amritmahotsav of Independence. The event is being organized by the Department of Industry and Internal Trade Development of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry from 10 to 16 January.
To encourage the country's young entrepreneurs on this day, the Prime Minister said, "Start-ups are going to be the backbone of the new India." The Prime Minister said that the role of start-ups in the growth and development of the country is now undeniable. On this day, he said, “New industrialists will build a new India. Start-ups are opening up new possibilities. Self-reliant India is becoming more and more confident. ” The central government claims that in recent years there has been a huge increase in the number of start-ups. The Prime Minister said that 27,000 patents were approved last year as compared to 4,000 in 2013-14. Similarly, 70,000 trademarks were registered in 2013-14, and in the financial year 2020-21, that number has increased to 2.5 million. The Prime Minister attended the virtual meeting from Delhi on the same day. Young entrepreneurs from different parts of the country joined the meeting through video conferencing.
Prime Minister Modi said today, "Our startups have changed the rules of the game. I think start-ups are going to be the backbone of India in the future. Let's create something new for India, from India. There are more than 60,000 start-ups in India, including 42 unicorns. The golden age of Indian start-ups is beginning. India's position in the global innovation index is improving due to the launch of innovation programs in the country. In 2015, India was ranked 71st and now it has risen to 47th.”
