EPFO WhatsApp service lets employees check PF balance, view the last five transactions and download their PF passbook. Check the number and steps to use it.
New Delhi : Salaried employees can now access several Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) services through WhatsApp, eliminating the need to visit an EPFO office or log in to the member portal for routine queries. Launched by Union Labour and Employment Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on November 1, the new facility allows members to check their Provident Fund (PF) balance, view their last five transactions and download their PF passbook directly through WhatsApp.
To use the service, members need to send a simple 'Hi' message to EPFO's official WhatsApp number, +91 8796441800. They can also initiate a conversation by scanning the relevant QR code. The service requires members to have their Universal Account Number (UAN) linked to their registered mobile number for authentication.
To get started, save +91 8796441800 in your phone contacts under the name 'EPFO WhatsApp Services'. Open WhatsApp, search for the saved contact and send 'Hi' to initiate a conversation with the chatbot. Users will then be prompted to select their preferred language.
Once the language is selected, the chatbot will display a menu of available services, including PF balance enquiry, details of the last five transactions, passbook download and language change. Select the required service and follow the chatbot's instructions to complete the authentication process.
An OTP will be sent to the mobile number registered with the member's UAN. Enter the OTP to verify your identity. After successful verification, select your PF account to access the requested information or download the passbook.
The new WhatsApp facility is expected to make essential EPFO services more accessible and convenient for millions of salaried employees, particularly those who want quick access to their PF details without navigating the member portal.
