Vikram Solar signs a 1 GW domestic solar cell supply agreement with Avaada Electro to strengthen its DCR market position and supply-chain resilience.
Kolkata: Vikram Solar, one of India’s leading solar module manufacturers, has entered into a domestic solar cell supply agreement with Avaada Electro, strengthening its position in the country’s rapidly expanding Domestic Content Requirement (DCR) segment and reinforcing the resilience of its long-term supply chain.
Under the agreement, Avaada Electro will supply 1 GW of ALMM-compliant, domestically manufactured half-cut N-Type G12R TOPCon solar cells to Vikram Solar for use in its module manufacturing operations. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in September 2026. The arrangement is aimed at ensuring a consistent supply of cells and operational continuity as demand for DCR-compliant solar projects continues to grow in India.
The agreement marks another step in Vikram Solar’s strategy to expand its presence in the domestic DCR market while diversifying and strengthening its solar cell supply chain. The company has entered into several cell supply agreements earlier this year as part of this strategy.
The latest pact also complements Vikram Solar’s backward integration plans. The company is developing a 9 GW high-efficiency solar cell manufacturing facility, which is scheduled to be commissioned in the fourth quarter of FY27. The facility is expected to further strengthen the company’s domestic manufacturing capabilities.
Gyanesh Chaudhary, Chairman and Managing Director of Vikram Solar, said that the next phase of India’s solar growth would depend not only on manufacturing scale but also on the depth and resilience of the supply chain. He said the agreement would broaden the company’s supplier base, strengthen its position in the DCR segment and provide greater confidence in supporting India’s energy security with fewer external supply-chain variables.
Chaudhary added that the vision of an Atmanirbhar Bharat would not be built through any single partnership, but through companies continuing to make such strategic choices consistently over the long term.
