Cityflo Backs PM Modi’s Public Transport Push Amid West Asia Crisis

Kolkata : App-based mobility service provider Cityflo has extended support to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal urging citizens to shift towards public transport and shared mobility amid the ongoing West Asia crisis and rising concerns over fuel security.

In a statement issued by the company, Cityflo said the Prime Minister’s call comes at a “critical inflection point” for India’s urban mobility sector, which is currently being shaped by both geopolitical tensions and long-term climate commitments.

“Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's appeal to shift to public transport comes at a critical inflection point for India's urban mobility sector, one shaped as much by geopolitical pressure as by long-term climate commitments,” said Jerin Venad.

Highlighting the benefits of shared mobility, Venad said Cityflo has promoted shared urban transport since its inception. According to the company, every commuter who switches from a private car to a Cityflo service saves around 1.8 litres of fuel per trip.

The company further claimed that commuters using Cityflo collectively helped avoid the consumption of nearly 75 lakh litres of fuel over the past year by opting for shared transportation instead of private vehicles.

Venad also noted that India’s growing urban infrastructure and high commuter density provide a strong foundation for expanding shared mobility solutions across cities.

“India has immense ridership density and is making rapid progress on urban infrastructure. If the Prime Minister's appeal signals a broader shift in that direction, the sector is positioned to respond,” he added.

The statement comes at a time when concerns over global fuel supply and energy prices have intensified due to instability in West Asia, prompting renewed focus on fuel conservation and sustainable urban transport solutions in India.
