New Delhi: According to the latest data of the Union Commerce Ministry, as of May, West Bengal has moved ahead in investment proposals, leaving behind states like Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh. According to Commerce Ministry, West Bengal has received industrial proposals worth Rs 1514 crore from 2 companies in May. which can provide employment to 3419 people. During this period, Gujarat received Rs 1,053 crore, Tamil Nadu Rs 273 crore, Andhra Pradesh Rs 782 crore and Karnataka Rs 117 crore.

Maharashtra, Haryana, Odisha and Uttar Pradesh are on the list before West Bengal. According to information, a 500-bed hospital of Peerless group of projects coming up in the state. The other is Jupiter Renewables' 1800 MW solar cell factory. It should be noted that even at this stage no investment proposal has come from any other state's industrial organization in Bengal. Companies already in Bengal or from Bengal have offered investment.

Incidentally, when the big proposals came in West Bengal in January-April, notable among them were new proposals from companies that had already invested in the state like Captain Steel, Indian Oil, APJ Surendra Group. It may be noted that in January, the state received a proposal of Rs 16,261 crore. 2269 crore and 570 crore in February and March respectively. 193 crore only in April. It's much higher in May.
