New Delhi : The government has extended the deadline for free update Aadhaar card details until September 14, 2024. This extension, announced by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), provides an additional three months for residents to ensure their Aadhaar information is accurate and up-to-date without any fees.

Aadhaar, a 12-digit unique ID number, is issued to Indian residents based on their biometric and demographic data. This system aims to eliminate duplicate and fake identities, ensuring a more transparent and secure process for accessing various government and financial services. So, keeping Aadhaar details update is crucial for maintaining uninterrupted access to government services and financial benifits. The Aadhaar number serves as a primary tool for identity verification across numerous platforms.

According to the Aadhaar Enrolment and Update Regulations, 2016, for individuals to update their Proof of Identity (POI) and Proof of Address (POA) documents every ten years from their Aadhaar enrollment date also mandatory to ensures the Aadhaar database remains accurate and reflects any changes in personal information, such as address, name, or marital status. Additionally, children's biometric details must be updated on their Blue Aadhaar card at ages 5 and 15 to maintain the integrity of their records.

Online Method for Changing Address in Aadhar Card

The online method for changing the address in Aadhar Card is the most convenient and can be done from the comfort of your home. Here are the steps to follow:

Step 1: Visit the official UIDAI website

Step 2: Click on the 'My Aadhaar' tab and select 'Update Your Address Online' option.

Step 3: Enter your Aadhaar number and click on the 'Send OTP' button.

Step 4: Enter the OTP received on your registered mobile number and click on the 'Login' button.

Step 5: Select the 'Address Update' option and enter your new address details.

Step 6: Upload the required documents as proof of address.

Step 7: Preview the details and click on the 'Submit' button.

Step 8: Pay the required fee online through net banking or credit/debit card.

Step 9: Once the request is processed, the updated Aadhaar Card with the new address will be sent to the registered address within 90 days.

Step 5: The operator at the ASK or Aadhaar Enrolment Centre will verify the details and give you an acknowledgement slip.

Step 6: Once the request is processed, the updated Aadhaar Card with the new address will be sent to the registered address within 90 days.
