| Infosys slips into low salary hike |
Mumbai: Infosys, another major IT firm, has decided to defer pay hikes for all posts below the senior management level. Every year from April the salary of the employees in this organization is increased. A news media report claimed that several employees of the company have confirmed that many who are eligible for the pay hike have not received their revised salaries which are normally due in the first quarter (June) of the financial year. The workers said that they do not know when they will get the increased salary. Because, they have not been officially informed about this by the organization.
The report notes that this decision demonstrates how challenged the IT sector is by the overall economic climate. For the first time in 2020, Infosys decided to defer salary hike to employees. That year, due to the Covid pandemic, the company deferred salary increases to keep cash on hand. But when the situation came under control, the company increased the salaries of the workers in January next year.
